'Mediation'-  Where our ideas of what happens in the world and our ideas of what is happening comes from other sources of the media, rather than through our own experiences.

'Proliferation'- means a sudden increase in the amount or number of something. for example you could say "the proliferation of global media networks".

What is meant by 'The Media' ?

The media is predominantly various means of communication and information, for example:

- Television
-Newspapers
-Magazines
-Radio
-Computers
-Internet/ Social networking

All these are aspects of media, but media is not just collecting information via different means, it is also included in things such as music, film, and photography.

Why is the media so strictly regulated in countries like Burma, China and Ethiopia?

The governments of these countries have strict regulations over all forms of media taking place within the country to try and stop ideas being formulated and spread across the population and also to stop any public critismisim being recieved from the media aswell.

Why is the media so important in today's society?

The media is so important in today's day and age because it is a key way of gaining news and information from across the world and country. It's a fast, and effective way of communication also, with things such as social networking websites, where you can communicate with friends for free. Also, the media is very influencial and plays a big part in many of our day to day lives.
